September 16th, with the internet shutdown, people in Tehran guessed that something is wrong and went to the hospital where Mahsa was taken.
September 17th 2022 was the first full day of major uprising in Iran. It started in Saqqez, Mahsa Amini’s home town and then Kurdistan Province capital Sanandaj!
People took on streets and immediately the chants were directed at the regime as a whole and demanding a regime change! This is very significant and different compared to all other protests in the history of the Islamic Republic regime to start with such demands right from the get go!
Under the pressure of the security forces, #Mahsa_Amini’s body was buried in Saqqez, Kurdistan province, this morning. The crowd chanted: “Death to the dictator” and “Killing because of a scarf?”

At this point, Mahsa Amini is viral all around the world and every Iranian’s social media is now turned into pictures and videos of Mahsa Amini and the protests! Everyone is very angry like never before!
